Bring out Your Creativity: The Artist's Way by Jonathan Hull Magic

Everyone wants to be more creative.

Creativity takes time and nourishing in order to develop it.

The trouble is that so few people know what steps to take to unlock the journey of self discovery.

They feel that life is a scam due to fear of criticism and negative self talk.

Recently, I discovered a book by Julia Cameron on how to bring back the magic called: "The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity". The book contains a 12 week plan to bring back your creative self.

The book suggests that creativity is connected to inspiration and that so often, people are not inspired about their daily work.

Rather, some poor souls see their job as a means to an end rather then a career that is a fulfilment of that life.

The book infers that we need to have a metanoia (a complete turn around) of our thought processes and our actions in order to release our creative talents.

We need to become creatively well-rounded through expanding our interests.

The expansion of our interests can occur through developing our curiousity.

So...How do we reengage our creativity?

According to Ms. Cameron, we need to get over our fear of success or failure, be more confident, and release past failures.

The ancient Greeks had a wonderful phrase that said: "Know thyself". It was written in order to get us to rethink the opinions of the few real or imagined critics and decide for ourselves who and what we are.

One of the strongest weapons against these internal or external critics is to live through example. The books suggests that we need to write a daily journal using a stream of consciousness approach through writing whatever comes to mind without self-censorship.

Through writing, one will clear away the pebbles in our thinking and what will remain will be pure gold of self-knowledge and discovery.

Meditation is also essential to lowering stress and realizing who we really are. With self-knowledge comes personal power and confidence. With confidence comes effort and with effort comes creativity.

The effort, of course, is in taking the journey and going through Julia Cameron's 12 step program as laid out in her book.

The Artist's Way suggests that you need to regularly take yourself out on what Julia Cameron calls "artist dates". The object of these dates is to go out, by yourself, to a place where you can redevelop your "play instinct".  Locations could include an old movie, an art gallery, an aquarium, etc.

Below is a link to more location ideas. Don't go until you have finished this article.

In John Grey's book "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus," the author suggests that women, in times of need or comfort, should go to their inner well for rejuvenation.

As individuals who want to stimulate our creativity, we also need to return to our well through developing our curiosity and focus on life and those around us.

We need to surround ourselves with stimulating imagery, positive experiences, and, most importantly, positive people.

daily inspirational quote Focus on the positive

Through focusing on negative people or on what they say, we become more like this negativity and our total life experience decreases.

Anthony Robbins said:

It's not what's happening to you now or what has
happened in your past that determines who you become.
Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on,
what things mean to you, and what your going to do about
them that determine your ultimate destiny.

Change yourself....Change your world!

Read Julia Cameron's book "The Artist Way" and start seeing magic in your life today!

Top 5 Waterfalls in the Hamilton/Niagara Area that You Must See by Jonathan Hull Magic

Water, whether still or in motion, has so
great an attraction for the lover of nature, that the
most beautiful landscape seems scarcely complete without it.
There are no effects so fascinating as those produced by the
reflections in nature’s living mirror, with their delicacy of form,
ever fleeting and changing, and their subtle combinations of colour.
Montagu Pollock

Waterfalls are one of Ontario's greatest treasures: A perfect, family outing!

While doing research, I discovered a fabulous book called:

Waterfalls of Ontario

For your (and my) interest and benefit, my family and I have explored many of the waterfalls in the Hamilton/Niagara Area, and I present to you what I consider to be my top 5 pick of the best of the best.

Children Learn What They Live with Jonathan Hull Magic

Children Learn What They Live
By Dorothy Law Nolte

          If children live with criticism,
               They learn to condemn.
          If children live with hostility,
               They learn to fight.
          If children live with ridicule,
               They learn to be shy.
          If children live with shame,
               They learn to feel guilty.
          If children live with encouragement,
               They learn confidence.
          If children live with tolerance,
               They learn to be patient.
          If children live with praise,
               They learn to appreciate.
          If children live with acceptance,
               They learn to love.
          If children live with approval,
               They learn to like themselves.
          If children live with honesty,
               They learn truthfulness.
          If children live with security,
They learn to have faith in themselves and others.
          If children live with friendliness,
They learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

Geocaching by Jonathan Hull Magic

Are you feeling bored with life?

Have you been scouring the internet looking for something new?

Boy...have I got something for you!

The answer is:

What are the Benefits of Geocaching?

1) It's a game
2) It could be a way to get exercise and fresh air
3) It's a great, new activity for couples or social singles
4) You get to explore fun, new places

Have I sold you?

The Scoop on Geocaching!

Do you remember as a kid watching movies like this one where the pirates would hide their treasure?

What if I told you that right now there is a game where people hide containers in ingenious hiding places, and your job is to try and find their location?
Hidden
Found

The containers can be the size of a:

1) Thimble (1 Inch)

2) Pill Box or Film Canister (2 Inches)

3) Lock and Lock (Sizes Vary)

4) Breadbox-size Container ("What's my Line" Anyone?) (Size of a Loaf of Bread)

5) A Safe

What's in the Containers?

The object of geocaching is a little bit like hide-and-go seek. The point of geocaching is not in the contents of the box, but rather, the point is the journey or the mental challenge of trying to find the object, which is hidden.

Generally speaking (and there are exceptions to the rule), the container has a log book where you can sign your name. Some people (from what I have seen) put small trinkets like small toys, beads, stickers, money (not often - I once saw $2 - No, I did not take it), coffee coupons (for the first person that finds the container), information on geocaching, words of wisdom (my idea), or whatever. Go on "YouTube" and you can see what other people are doing, but wait until you've read this entire article first!

Can I Take Items out of the Box?

You can. However, the rule is that if you take something out, you want to put something of equal or greater value back inside. Of course, you would not want to take the log book, which is where people sign to show that they found the container.

How Do I Find these Containers?

You remember in the pirate movies how "X" marks the spot?

What if I told you that the map is your GPS device (iPhone, Android, e.t.c) that has the locations marked on a map?

Where Do I Get this Map?

For Iphone users:

Type in "Geocaching" into your app.

Two Apps that I Use

1) Geocaching

2) OpenCaching
Garmin OpenCaching iOS Android

For GPS users:

Just go to: www.geocaching.com for the GPS coordinates.

Follow the instructions! Play responsibly!

Geocaching Etiquette

1) If you create a new geocache (see geocaching website for details), make sure and place the geocache in a safe place where geocachers will not be injured.

2) Once you find the geocache, put the geocache back the way you found it for future geocachers.

Geocaching is fun and is a positive mental challenge!

Wishing you a great, geocaching experience from Jonathan Hull Magic
